Quick-service restaurant chains are amping up their promotions and limited-time offerings during the Halloween season. Burger King is introducing a nightmarish burger called the Nightmare KIng, intended and “clinically proven” to induce increased nightmares. The Nightmare King sandwich contains a quarter-pound flamed-grilled beef patty, 100-percent white meat crispy chicken fillet, melted cheese, thick-cut bacon, mayo and onions on a glazed green sesame seed bun. According to a new marketing campaign, the Burger King-sponsored clinical trials have proven the Nightmare King to increase nightmares by 3.5 times.
Burger King says the study was conducted by Paramount Trials and Florida Sleep & Neuro Diagnostic Services, Inc. and Goldforest Inc. It conducted the study with 100 participants over 10 nights. The Nightmare King is available October 22 for $6.39 at participating Burger King restaurants and also available through Postmates while supplies last.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts launched its Halloween doughnut collection, featuring the new candy-covered Trick-or-Treat Doughnut, the new Monster Batter Doughnut, the Jack-o-Lantern Doughnut, and the Chocolate Iced with Halloween Sprinkles Doughnut, and is available from October 8 to October 31. The new Trick-or-Treat creation is quite decadent, featuring an Original Glazed Doughnut dipped and drizzled in salted caramel and then topped with pieces of popular chocolate Halloween candies.

The all-new Krispy Kreme Monster Batter Doughnut takes a classic cake batter filling, and dips it in “slime green” icing, then topping it with monster eyes and festive confetti. Krispy Kreme, which is a subsidiary of JAB Holding Co. affiliate JAB Beech, launched a free doughnut Halloween offer. If Krispy Kreme customers wear a costume to a participating Krispy Kreme store on October 31, they will earn a free doughnut treat.
Dunkin’ launched an Instagram costume contest on social media with the hashtag #DunkinDressUpContest. The coffee-bakery chain is rewarding a lucky winner with a $1,000 in cash and free coffee for a year. In addition to the grand prize, there will be weekly $100 gift card prizes to fans that show off their imagination and creativity on Instagram with the hashtag and are selected. The official contest runs October 17-November 1, 2018 and is offered in the U.S. only to adults 18 and over. More information is available at ddsweeps.com.
