Doughnut shop promotes new menu item in connection with Apollo 11 landing
Krispy Kreme is taking decadence to a whole new level with the release of its Original Filled Doughnut. The Winston-Salem, N.C. chain releases the new menu item with a free doughnut promotion taking place June 22. Krispy Kreme stuffs the new treat with classic or chocolate cream filling to produce the two original flavors.
Original Kreme and Chocolate Kreme varieties are a permanent bakery offering as of June 17.
A subsidiary of conglomerate JAB Holding, Krispy Kreme is launching the new doughnut in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Consequently, its promotional slogan cuts to the chase: “One small bite for man, one giant leap for doughnut-kind.”
“As America prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, we want to give our fans a new taste experience that is out of this world,” said Dave Skena, chief marketing officer for Krispy Kreme Doughnut in a statement.
Customers at the 1,400-unit doughnut-shop chain take pleasure in sweet deals, like the upcoming free Original Filled Doughnut giveaway June 22. Krispy Kreme select locations will give away one free Original Filled Doughnut per guest as part of a “mission” to give away one million of them.
