Debut of IHOP in Peru follows three openings in Ecuador
Dine Brands Global opened its first IHOP location today in Peru. The restaurant in Lima, Peru became a reality through a development agreement with Percapitals S.A.C. IHOP also opened three restaurants in Ecuador this year, marking the casual-dining chain’s debut in South America. The Lima store becomes the 62nd IHOP in Latin America.
The agreement with Percapitals S.A.C. calls for 25 IHOPs to open in Peru over nine years. These restaurant openings should fuel employment in the City of Lima, adding 600 new jobs.
“South America is an important growth market for Dine Brands and we’ve seen great success there so far this year,” said Steve Joyce, president and chief executive, International, Dine Brands Global. “IHOP’s friendly, come as you are philosophy expands borders and cultures.”
Glendale, Calif.-based Dine Brands targets Central America, Colombia and Chile as prime markets for growth. Through its IHOP and Applebee’s chains, Dine Brands Global operates and franchises a portfolio of 3,640 restaurants combined in 18 countries.
