RBI adds Latin America to Schwan’s role
Tim Hortons Global President Alex Macedo will leave Restaurant Brands International (RBI), the chain’s parent, in March. Axel Schwan, Tim Hortons regional president for U.S. and Canada, will join the global leadership team and add oversight of Tim Hortons Latin America to his role. Schwan was promoted in October after rising through the marketing ranks at RBI. In addition, the leadership team assumes responsibility for international stores.
Macedo will continue to support the leadership team and ensure a smooth transition. “Alex was invaluable in establishing a strong growth trajectory for Burger King in the United States and led Tim Hortons through a period of transition earlier last year,” said Jose Cil, RBI chief executive. “Alex has all our best wishes as he leaves RBI.”
At RBI, Schwan worked as Marketing Director in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. After advancing to the role of VP, Marketing & Communication in Europe, he took the post of global chief marketing officer for Burger King. In that role, he oversaw marketing promotions in 100 countries. In addition, the work of Schwan and his team led to several accolades, awards, and Cannes Lions. Also, Axel earned the Cannes Marketer of the Year award in 2017
