To celebrate delivery agreement, DoorDash, Popeyes issue free promo code for delivery only
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen launched a new, free Popeyes Chicken Sandwich offer in partnership with DoorDash. To promote its restaurant delivery agreement, Popeyes is offering its ever-popular fried Chicken Sandwich free to guests who submit an order of $20 or more, excluding taxes, tip and fees. DoorDash will waive the delivery fee charge, as well, in the promotion that runs from January 13 to January 19, 2020.
The fried chicken sandwich wars have led several QSRs to increase promotional offers and marketing around their own offerings. And nationally, social media conversations have elevated the popularity of chicken sandwiches at major chains, and also at independents. Consequently, many other QSRs and eateries offering chicken sandwiches have benefited by this excitement.
This has also played out across U.S. cities and states. Within the Metropolitan Washington Region, the Washington Post also named Popeyes the number one fried chicken chain, in addition to favoring its chicken sandwich.
Popeyes prepares buttermilk battered and hand breaded white-meat chicken filet and tops it with cured pickles before nestling the ingredients in a toasted brioche bun. Guests can also select mayo or spicy Cajun spread as the finishing touch.
A subsidiary of Restaurant Brands International (RBI), Popeyes also offers a Chicken Sandwich combo. The meal adds a side item and a small beverage. Additionally, with over 1,000 units covered by DoorDash delivery across the nation, the Cajun-inspired chain announced that DoorDash became its largest restaurant delivery partner.

On the first round of releasing the limited-time Popeyes Chicken Sandwich, the quick-service chain ran out of product. Some, surmised it was a marketing stunt. On the second round, it re-released the menu item on Sunday, November 3—quite significant because competitor Chick-fil-A closes its stores on Sunday.
DoorDash users can use code CHICKENWINNER for the free Popeyes sandwich offer. “We are thrilled about the continued buzz around our chicken sandwich and excited to deliver it to our loyal fans for free through our partnership with DoorDash.”said Bruno Cardinali, North America head of marketing at Popeyes.
Popeyes Chicken Sandwich has played a prominent role in Q3. During the quarter, parent RBI’s earnings were boosted by successful offers at Popeyes, including the chicken sandwich launch. Comparable restaurant sales grew 9.7 percent at Popeyes in that time period. Now, this round of free marketing at press should prove to be incrementally helpful to its Q1 2020 sales.
DoorDash is also promoting its $9.99 monthly subscription. The program offers its members unlimited $0 delivery fees on orders of $12. The delivery company is the largest in the United States, covering 4,000 cities in all 50 states and internationally. RBI operates and franchises over 4,000 Popeyes restaurants around the world.
