A&W Restaurants rolls out Beyond Burger in 29 states
A&W Restaurants expanded its roll out of Beyond Burger nationwide. The chain now offers the plant-based product at participating locations in 29 states after completing a successful test. The Beyond Burger at A&W is topped with Papa sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Restaurants serve it on a lightly-toasted bun,
Lexington, Ky.-based A&W also prepares a version of the burger with bacon and cheese for flexitarians. “In our tests we learned that a lot of guests want the best of new and old,” said Sarah Blasi Mueller, senior vice president of Marketing and Development. “That’s why we are offering a Beyond Burger version of our Original Bacon Cheeseburger that adds salad dressing, hickory-smoked bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and more pickles.
A&W joins several other restaurant chains, including Burger King, TGI Friday’s, and BGR that have embraced meat-alternative patties from Beyond Meat, adding them to their menus. Prices and participation vary across the A&W Restaurants system, according to a company statement. A&W operates and franchises 900 units globally.
