Fruitive expanding beyond Washington, DC, Virginia
Washington, D.C.-based Fruitivie began franchising to expand its plant-based concept across the United States. Founded in Virginia Beach, the fast-casual chain operates two locations in the D.C. market and two in Virginia Beach. Since its founding in 2011, Fruitivie has been gaining traction due to its made-from-scratch, plant-forward menu.
“The market for plant-based, healthy foods has continued to grow at an unprecedented rate, and I knew there was an opportunity here,” said Gregg Rozeboom, founder and chief executive of Fruitive. “When I decided to start the company, I traveled to vegan restaurants around the nation to see what was working and what wasn’t, and I’m confident we’ve created a brand that will provide a rewarding investment to franchise owners.”
Rozeboom says Fruitive provides financial and real estate training in addition to sales and marketing, which is often lacking some franchise programs.
The menu has featured items like almond butter and bananas on toasted whole-grain bread with chocolate drizzle and cacao nibs, as well as sweet berry waffles topped with whipped coconut cream, lavender and maple syrup. Roseboom has imparted a health-focused leaning to the eco-friendly chain.
