As burger chain shows, ’tis season to add excitement to QSR menus
Wendy’s launched a new Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger after a respite from the Pretzel bun game for a half-decade. For 2020, the new cheeseburger offers up a quarter-pound fresh-beef patty, topped with Muenster cheese, three strips of Applewood-smoked bacon, smoky honey mustard, warm beer cheese sauce, crispy fried onions, and pickles on a soft pretzel bun.
The Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger joins the Made to Crave burger lineup and retails for $5.69. Guests can opt for a chicken filet instead of the burger for $6.19. The Wendy’s Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger should draw renewed interest in its menu and attract new trial.
QSRs heat up menu introductions, LTOs
As fall approaches, QSRs are accelerating the return of seasonal items and the introduction of limited-time and new menu items. McDonald’s launched limited-time Spicy Chicken Nuggets and Mighty Hot Sauce, while Carl’s Jr. debuted a Steakhouse Angus Thickburger.
Top pizza chains, which have seen incredible success in their category feeding hungry, pandemic consumers, also launched new products. Domino’s launched Chicken Taco and Cheeseburger Pizzas as part of a menu expansion, while Papa John’s introduced a limited-time Grilled Buffalo Chicken Papadia.
Coffee shops, including Dunkin’ and Tim Hortons US returned their seasonal Pumpkin Spice collections and added new products, as well. Dunkin’ launched snack menu items, including the Stuffed Bagel Minis, Steak and Cheese Rollups and Snackin’ Bacon, and Tim Hortons introduced a Pumpkin Spice Dream Donut. Dunkin’ has seen a lot of success with snack items as the health crisis and work-from-home routines have pushed customers out of the morning daypart.
