Cava adds RightRice vegetable-rice blend to menu as base, Chicken bowl

Fast casual becomes first national restaurant partner of RightRice

Cava announced it had debuted RightRice at all of its restaurants nationwide. Cava customers can select the vegetable rice as a base for their bowl creations, or opt for a new, RightRice curated bowl, which has also launched. RightRice comes from a blend of lentils, chickpeas, green peas, and a small amount of rice.

In comparison to regular white rice, Right Rice contains twice the amount of protein and five times the fiber, with 40 percent less net carbs, according to a Cava statement. The Mediterranean fast casual also debuted a new Chicken + RightRice Bowl—the latest curated bowl—which features a proprietary combination of RightRice, crisp arugula, grilled chicken, Tzatziki, creamy hummus, feta, cucumber, tomato, and onion, topped with house-made Greek Vinaigrette dressing.

“Our guests are seeking more plant-forward options,” said Brett Schulman, Cava chief executive. “True to our Mediterranean roots, we saw RightRice as the perfect solution. After looking at a variety of rice alternatives, RightRice was the only one that delivers on the taste and nutritional profile we were looking for and uses Mediterranean ingredients and flavors we love.”

Keith Belling, popchips founder, created RightRice, which is now in several leading food-retailer locations. The vegetable-rice brand launched at Whole Foods stores last year. Schulman added that Washington, DC-based Cava is the first national restaurant partner for RightRice.
