Tim Hortons US celebrates Halloween with donut giveaway
Chain extending offer to customers in costume
Tim Hortons US will continue its Halloween-season promotions with a free donut giveaway. At drive-thrus nationwide, the US division of Restaurant Brands International’s coffee chain subsidiary will offer a free Halloween Donut October 31 to customers in costume.
Limited to one donut per person, the promotion features the Tim Hortons Halloween Donut—a yeast ring donut covered with chocolate fondant, topped with orange sprinkles. The Halloween Donut can also be purchased for $0.99 at Tim Hortons US stores.
“We know that Halloween will look different for so many families this year, and we want to be a place where guests can celebrate their favorite traditions safely,” said Ricardo Azevedo, regional president of Tim Hortons US.
Tim Hortons has been lagging its sister brands, Burger King and Popeyes, in com(parable) sales growth. The chain could benefit from an increase in LTO and promotions, taking a page from its sisters’ playbooks. Tim Hortons posted a preliminary third-quarter comp sales decline of 12.5 percent compared to last year. It fared the worst in its domestic market of Canada, seeing comp sales decrease 13.7 percent there (compared to a 3.6 drop in international markets, including US).
