QSR chain readies menu for ongoing fried chicken sandwich wars
Wendy’s rolled out a new Classic Chicken Sandwich, using what the chain described as a premium fried chicken fillet. The sandwich comes as quick-service chains obsess over their fried chicken sandwich offerings, competing with each other on quality and taste. Popeyes, for example, continues to benefit from its chicken sandwich in the form of substantial top-line growth.
The Wendy’s Classic Chicken Sandwich features a premium all-white meat chicken breast. Team members serve it with mayo, a slice of tomato, lettuce, and pickles, on a toasted bun.
With the addition of the new, premium chicken fillet, the Bacon Jalapeno Chicken Sandwich, Asiago Ranch Chicken Club and recently-added Pretzel Bacon Pub Chicken Sandwich will get an upgrade. These menu items will all be prepared with the new chicken breast.
“The Classic joins what customers have already come to know and love in spice and taste from Wendy’s via our Spicy Chicken and Pretzel Bacon Pub Chicken Sandwiches,” said Carl Loredo, Wendy’s chief marketing officer.
As part of the new fillet’s debut, Wendy’s will offer the Classic Chicken Sandwich for $4.99.
