Limited-time Zaxby’s Signature Sandwich debuts in select markets
Fast casual takes regional approach to culinary warfare
The chicken sandwich wars appear to be endless as Zaxby’s Signature Sandwich debuts for a limited time. The Athens, Ga.-based fast-casual chain launched its own fried chicken sandwich, hoping to extend the battle and mark its own place in the coveted competition. Wendy’s, Church’s Chicken and now Zaxby’s have become the latest limited-service chains to upgrade or release their own version of the fried chicken staple, now a prized item on many menus.
Zaxby’s is leading with size, hoping that portion amount, along with taste, will yield a strong following. The Signature Sandwich features a double-breaded, white breast meat, topped with three pickle chips and a choice of Zax Sauce or Spicy Zax, served on a new, toasted split-top bun with a buttery taste.
Zaxby’s Spicy Zax combines pepper and heat in its blend of jalapeño and red cayenne. The Zaxby’s Signature Sandwich Meal comes with crinkle fries and a 22-ounce drink.
“It’s a natural brand evolution for us, perfecting the size, taste and flavor profile of this indescribably delicious chicken sandwich. We know the competition is fierce, but we’re also confident that once you try it, there’s no going back,” said Joel Bulger, Zaxby’s chief marketing officer.
Zaxby’s Signature Sandwich arrived exclusively in the Tennessee markets of Nashville, Knoxville and Tri-Cities, in addition to Louisville and Lexington in Kentucky.
