Sonic Drive-In rolls out Original Espresso, Oreo Espresso Shakes
New fall treats offered for limited-time
Sonic Drive-In rolled out a new Original Espresso Shake and an Oreo Espresso Shake for a limited time. Each medium Espresso shakes contain about 112 milligrams of caffeine. Sonic is marketing the shakes as anytime pick-me-ups.
The Oklahoma City-based QSR chain prepares the Original Espresso Shake with a double-shot of espresso, and 100-percent vanilla ice cream. The Oreo Espresso Shake mixes in Oreo cookie pieces to the Original Espresso Shake.
“This is the perfect pairing in the moments that our guests are in search of that irresistible pick-me-up in their day,” said Scott Uehlein, Sonic VP of product innovation and development.
The use of Oreo branding in the limited-time shakes falls under a license Sonic has with Mondelez International Group.
Sonic’s parent company, Inspire Brands, made headlines last week with its $11.3B bid for Dunkin’ Brands, which owns the Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins franchise concepts.
