Acai-bowl chain continues expansion in Eastern United States
Playa Bowls opened its milestone 100th location in Darien, Connecticut. The store is the acai-bowl shop chain’s third in the state. Local franchise partners, Steve Dimovski and Jarrod Jackette, will operate the Darien Playa Bowls store.
The Jersey Shore acai bowl chain’s founders, Robert Giuliani and Abby Taylor, are long-time surfers and appreciate a healthy, on-the-go lifestyle.
The Darien store will offer acai bowls that can be customized based on customers’ tastes. Toppings include pure acai berry, Pitaya, chia seeds, coconuts, kale, and bananas, in addition to a variety of fresh fruit, seeds, nuts, granola, dried berries, and nut butters.
Playa Bowls also offers oatmeal bowls, fresh juices and smoothies. The growing number of customers that follow lifestyle-based diets have made vegan, gluten-free, Whole30, Paleo, and Keto options at the chain more relevant.
Playa Bowls will open five new locations by year’s end. New acai bowl shops will arrive in Reston,Va., Sparta, N.J., Temple University, Pa., Warrington, Pa., and Littleton, Colorado. In addition, Playa Bowls plans expansion into the San Antonio, New Orleans, Chicago, Columbus, Scottsdale, and Coral Springs markets.
