Franchise veteran to take top post January 4
John Peyton will serve as the next president and chief executive of Dine Brands Global, the parent of Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill and IHOP. The company named the Realogy Franchise Group CEO to the top Dine Brands post effective January 4, 2021. The 21-year franchising veteran replaces Steve Joyce, whose departure had been previously announced.
Peyton held several senior-level positions at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, including chief marketing officer, SVP of Global Operations and chief operations officer, North America Hotel Division. At Starwood, he oversaw the Global and North American Food and Beverage teams, including their on-property restaurants.
Most recently at Realogy, Peyton led a company that franchises top brands, including Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, Century 21, Coldwell Banker, The Corcoran Group, ERA, Sotheby’s International Realty, and Coldwell Banker Commercial.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Pennsylvania and his Masters in Business Administration in accounting and marketing from NYU’s Stern School of Business.
“John’s extensive background working in the hospitality industry enables him to provide outstanding leadership and guidance as Dine Brands continues to accelerate long-term growth,” said Richard Dahl, chairman of the board. “We greatly appreciate Steve Joyce’s leadership and considerable contributions to Dine Brands during a critical period for the company and wish him continued success.”
Dine Brands announced the exhaustive CEO search this spring.
