Jamba by Blendid debuts robotic smoothie kiosk in Dixon, California
FoodOS platform unveiled at Walmart
Jamba partnered with Blendid for the first-ever co-branded kiosk, Jamba by Blendid. The robotic invention, located in the Dixon Walmart in California, features Blendid’s autonomous and contactless food platform operating with Jamba, a fast-casual chain of blended smoothies made from fruits and vegetables.
The Walmart smoothie kiosk offers plant-forward Blendid smoothies jointly created by the companies. Flavors from Jamba’s menu can be prepared in less than 3 minutes and stored chilled until the designated customer pickup time. In addition, proprietary Jamba Boosts, such as Jamba 3g Energy Boost or Daily Vitamin Boost, can be added to smoothies as part of the drink customization.
As consumers continue to look for contactless food options in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Blendid’s smoothie kiosks, powered by machine learning, robotics and artificial intelligence appear to be a timely foodservice solution. Blendid’s food platform, FoodOS, can prepare up to 45 smoothies in one hour.
“Jamba by Blendid is yet another way technology can help us deliver on guest needs,” said Geoff Henry, president of Jamba. “We see an opportunity to get Jamba into more locations, make it even more accessible, and create solutions where our team members can leverage the latest in technology to efficiently serve our guests.
Jamba executives hope this test will provide more insight into the role of robotics and AI-powered smoothie kiosks within the brand, and are eager to receive customer feedback.
“The platform processes the orders and payment, measures and dispenses precise amounts of ingredients for customized drinks, blends, pours, and stores each smoothie until a guest is ready for pickup,” according to an announcement.
