Texas Roadhouse names Jerry Morgan president

Promotion of Roadhouse veteran exec reflects increasing responsibility, success

Texas Roadhouse promoted Jerry Morgan to president, assuming the role that CEO Kent Taylor had filled since June 2019. The appointment of Morgan ,a regional marketing partner, becomes effective in January. Taylor will continue to serve in his capacity as chief executive and chairman of the Board.

Morgan draws considerable restaurant management experience from his 23 years at Texas Roadhouse, and will tap 35 years of increasing responsibility within the restaurant industry. His career began in 1997 as managing partner of a restaurant. Based on achievement, Morgan was recognized as “Managing Partner of the Year” in 2001 and also promoted to market partner later that year.

Texas Roadhouse’s chief executive is certainly pleased with Morgan’s promotion.

“Going from three jobs to two, will allow me to focus my additional time, energy, and creativity on our future growth, such as establishing Bubba’s 33 and Jaggers as segment leaders and expanding our retail initiatives, including Butcher Shop and our new Margarita Mix,” notes Taylor.

In 2015, Morgan became regional market partner, responsible for 120 restaurants in 14 states. Over his restaurant career, he has also worked at Bennigan’s and Burger King.

Taylor added, “Jerry brings great operational focus and leadership to an already stellar executive leadership team and is a perfect balance to our awesome field operations led by our chief operating officer, Doug Thompson, and our regional market partners.”
