Quick-service chicken chain brings its chickenjoy to two high-profile malls
Jollibee continues its expansion in Canada with new restaurant openings in Mississauga, Ontario and West Edmonton, Alberta. The Philippines-based Chickenjoy chain just opened a Toronto store on Yonge Street in December. Growth plans for this year will lead to 28 new North American stores, with a mix of restaurants and cloud kitchens.
The new Mississauga store is located at 100 City Centre Drive in the popular Square One Shopping Centre. The Mall is Canada’s second large mall based on retail space. Jollibee opened near the main entrance of the mall, across from the Mississauga City Centre Transit Terminal.
The opening of the West Edmonton store January 28 puts Jollibee in the West Edmonton Mall, the largest shopping mall in North America. Diners will find the West Edmonton Jollibee at 17136 90th Avenue upon its debut. Both the Square One Jollibee and West Edmonton locations are open for order-ahead pickup, delivery and carryout.
Maribeth Dela Cruz, president of Jollibee Group North America, Philippine Brands, said “We know Canadians love their chicken so we have set very aggressive expansion goals to bring our unique take on fried chicken to every corner of the country. Our hope is to continue spreading joy by increasing easy and safe access to our great tasting food, headlined by our beloved Jolly Crispy Chicken and other Jolly favorites.”
Jollibee’s menu mix of “crispylicious chicken,” served with gravy, and Asian foods makes it a unique and emerging QSR. Jolly Spaghetti, served with a signature sweet-style sauce loaded with chunky slices of savory ham and hotdog, and topped with a sprinkle of cheese, became a star on the menu. What’s more, its chickenjoy fried chicken is Jollibee’s signature calling card.
Jollibee’s expansion has led to a total of 16 stores in Canada, with these openings, and a total of 62 North American locations.
