New beverages follow Sprite Poppers launch last year
Del Taco added Mini Shake Poppers and Lemonade Poppers to the menu, based on the popularity of Sprite Poppers last year. The return of the innovative Poppers drinks may help customers cool off, while heating up drink sales at the 600-unit chain. The new Del Taco Mini Shake Poppers beverages combine the QSR’s premium vanilla shake with bursts of blueberry or peach popping pearls.
The Lemonade Poppers build on the elements of Del Taco’s original Sprite Poppers, but combine Minute Maid ZeroSugar Lemonade and round bursts of blueberry or peach flavored popping pearls, served over ice. Customers can select a regular or large size.

Tim Hackbardt, chief marketing officer at Del Taco, commented, “When we launched Sprite Poppers last year, it quickly became a sought-after beverage for our fans and many took to social media to share the full sensory experience of the beverage. Because of its viral popularity and uniqueness to our category, we knew we wanted to bring it back and share new ways for our guests to experience Poppers.”
Del Taco brought the Poppers line back with a celebration at a Los Angeles drive-thru, converting the scene into a bubble-centric, sensory experience. Fans enjoyed free samples, and took in a light show and ambient electronic music, along with a surprise appearance by influencer @popeyethefoodie
The Lake Forest, Calif.-based quick-serve chain will offer the Mini Shake and Lemonade Poppers for a limited time.
