Marketing promotion ties in with release of ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ movie
Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s introduced a special edition Godzilla Burger, Kong Burger and Kong Chicken Sandwich in a promotion marking the release of “Godzilla vs. Kong.” Participating restaurants will feature Godzilla and Kong menu items starting today, March 31, which is the global theatrical premiere of the film and HBO Max debut, via a partnership with Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment.
Carl’s Jr. and Hardees will both offer a Godzilla Burger, which features ⅓-pound angus beef patties, four strips of crispy bacon, three slices of American cheese and mayonnaise on the QSR chains’ premium buns.
The Kong Burger, served by both chains, starts with 3.5-ounce beef patties, which are then topped with Santa Fe sauce, three slices of cheese, lettuce. and tomato on a seeded bun.
Another protein option comes in the form of the King Kong Chicken Sandwich, which includes two crispy chicken patties, Santa Fe sauce, two slices of cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a seeded bun.
“The Godzilla and Kong products are inspired by this massive release with larger-than-life, mouthwatering flavors that are impossible to ignore,” commented Arturo Perez, VP of International Marketing at CKE, parent of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s. “We’re looking forward to having our customers around the world enjoy these burgers alongside the film’s release.”
The “Godzilla vs. Kong” movie stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, with Kyle Chandler and Demián Bichir, under the direction of Adam Wingard. This release is based on a screenplay by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, and story by Terry Rossio, Michael Dougherty & Zach Shields.
The feature-film battle of the titans will also debut in 20 countries and regions around the globe, including Mexico, Canada, Latin America, Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East.
CKE’s international promotion will land the Godzilla Burger and one Kong offering—the Kong Chicken Sandwich or Kong Burger—in each region. In Mexico, the Kong Burger features a black bun, available while supplies last.
