C3 launches ghost kitchen partnership with Akara Living’s Kenect apartment communities
New agreement brings Umami Burger, Krispy Rice, Plant Nation to Kenect properties nationwide
Virtual-restaurant operator C3 (Creating Culinary Communities) has partnered with Miami-based Akara Living to outfit ghost kitchens into its Kenect apartment communities. The first properties to be served by C3 kitchens will be Kenect in Nashville and Phoenix.
Akara Living has ambitions for a nationwide portfolio of Kenect Properties. Kenect Denver, Kenect Miami, Kenect Cleveland, and Kenect Minneapolis are upcoming communities in the development pipeline.
The membership model of Kenect merges high-quality, furnished living spaces with modern and spacious common areas and amenities. Perks range from state-of-the art coworking spaces to curated, hospitality-inspired services, according to Akara Living.
As an Akara foodservice partner, C3, will oversee the daily operations and services for Kenect’s onsite dining, including the lobby cafes, bars and its private pool decks. C3 will also deliver food to members and the respective community.
Through its chef-created virtual restaurant concepts, C3 will accommodate the local market using street-facing cafes. Umami Burger, Krispy Rice, Sam’s Crispy Chicken, and Plant Nation are among the seven virtual brands that will service the Kenect community and extend into the neighborhood.
The partnership has plenty of runway. The Kenect portfolio currently includes 1,000 beds with another 2,500 beds in the pipeline for development. Kenect was imagined and conceived in 2013 by Akara Partners CEO Rajen Shastri.

C3’s expansion over the past year includes the debut of Graduate Food Hall with Graduate Hotels, a fulfillment partnership with The Ice Cream Shop by Unilever, and the opening of 200 digital kitchens.

C3 has launched several virtual restaurant brands, including Umami Burger, Krispy Rice, Sam’s Crispy Chicken, EllaMia, In a Bun, The Other Side, Dani Garcia’s POLLO VERDE, Morimoto Sa’moto, and Dario’s Cicci De Carne.
