‘Chickenjoy’ chain’s Wheaton location also marks first in Maryland
Jollibee, a quick-service chain originating in the Philippines, will open its first Maryland store at the Westfield Wheaton mall April 8. Specializing in the chicken category, Jollibee has developed a large following for its Chickenjoy fried chicken as it has expanded across the United States. The Westfield Wheaton store is also the first Jollibee in the Metropolitan Washington market.
Jollibee touts the crispiness and crunchiness of its Chickenjoy fried chicken’s exterior, and juiciness on the inside, which is a result of a pressure-fried cooking process. A decadent and silky gravy can accompany the chicken for the full experience.
Jolly Spaghetti is another fan favorite, which comes with sweet-style sauce, loaded with chunky slices of savory ham and hotdog, topped with cheese.
The Wheaton store—Jollibee’s 49th US location—will open at 9 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. daily. Currently, all orders will be prepared for off-premises consumption. Customers can call the restaurant for order pickup by dialing 240-657-9840, starting at 7 a.m. Jollibee will text customers when their orders are ready to avoid long queues and enable social distancing.
Stuart Amos, general manager of Westfield Wheaton, said, “Our customers are always on the lookout for new, exciting dining options at our shopping center, and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce them to Jollibee’s delicious menu offerings.”
Jollibee has plans for 20 new stores in the United States in 2021, including this Washington-area restaurant and four other locations opened since the beginning of the year.
