Survey shows event, catering demand perking up as summer approaches
More than half of respondents planning events outside
A survey by Tripleseat and SevenRooms finds that consumers are ready to once again plan events. Nearly half of respondents in the 1,000-person survey indicated a desire to host events outside. Tripleseat is a web-based sales and event management platform for restaurants, hotels, and unique venues, while SevenRooms, serves as a data-driven guest experience platform for the hospitality industry.
A total of 37% of consumers are budgeting event spend under $1,000 and 25%, under $5,000. Only 30% of respondents indicated they would host their event at home.
A total of 38% of consumers plan to have between 1 and 20 guests, while 32% plan to have under 50. Over two-thirds of them (70%) indicated planning a birthday party, while 47% planned a holiday party and 30% a wedding.
Jonathan Morse, Tripleseat chief executive, commented, “Our survey found that people are excited to get out of the house and gather with friends, family and colleagues, so now is the time for venues to get creative in their offerings and ensure they leverage the tools they have to get in front of customers and provide them with a safe, fun, seamless event experience.”
A third of consumers are planning catering events. A total of 51% of those respondents are planning to have those events catered, demonstrating the potential for catering business as the weather warms up.
The sponsors of the survey recommend hospitality operators embrace “technology solutions with features that allow for contact-free planning, ordering, payments and delivery/pick-up. The more seamless this experience is for customers, the more likely they are to order through a venue today and in the future.”
