Aloha Poke inks deals to expand in Greater Houston, Texas with 11 new stores
Agreements with two franchisees set the stage for openings in Texas as early as this summer
Aloha Poke Co will expand in the Greater Houston market in Texas with the signing of franchise agreements for 11 new stores in the next four years. The fast-casual poke-bowl concept will start in Houston, and has plans to grow in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin markets, as well. The Houston market entry is the first penetration into Texas.
Aloha Poke’s aim is to serve sustainably-sourced superfoods with an upbeat vibe. Serving fast, sushi-grade fish and Hawaiian-inspired raw ingredients, the brand is accelerating its franchise growth. Executives expect Aloha Poke’s smaller brick-and-mortar buildouts and sustainable food sourcing will appeal to entrepreneurs seeking a differentiated franchise concept.
A Bojangles franchisee with five units, Baryalay Razi has partnered with Aloha Poke under the 11-unit deal. His daughters will take lead on the Houston expansion, noted an announcement. Razi worked briefly at the United Nations. Originally from Afghanistan, he later worked at Whataburger and ascended to the position of regional director during his 20-year career with the burger chain.

Amanda and Corey Tabb also signed with Aloha Poke They will open their first unit in Cypress, Texas, which is located northwest of Houston. The Tabbs will continue their careers in the energy industry as they debut the Cypress Aloha Poke location this year in the late summer.
Originating in Chicago’s French Market at the Ogilvie Transportation Center in 2016, Aloha Poke now has 15 units operating in the Midwest, Southeast, and Mid-Atlantic.
