Another 120 Red Robin restaurants will launch pizza program by year’s end
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews plans to serve Donatos Pizza at an additional 120 restaurants as part of its partnership with the Ohio-based pizza chain. The two chains teamed up in 2018, adding pizza offerings in Red Robin locations in key markets.
The expansion plan will install the pizza program in more than 200 Red Robin locations by year’s end. A limited-time cauliflower crust pizza that launched in Q1 became a permanent hit on the menu. And guests of Red Robin can enjoy pizza to-go or for dine-in at dozens of Red Robin restaurants.
The Greenwich Village, Colo.-based burger chain reports that in Q2, 41 locations rolled out Donats, including in the states of Idaho, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. Q3 saw the program add various East Coast units in Maryland and Virginia, followed by expansion in California at the end of the fiscal year.
“Our continued market rollout featuring Donatos pizza as yet another family-friendly menu offering has been well-received by guests,” said Jonathan Muhtar, Red Robin EVP & chief concept officer. “Our Donatos locations consistently out-perform our non-pizza restaurants and we continue to be pleased with sales in our newest markets.”
Donatos has also reaped the rewards of the partnership, with revenue of $60M and profits of $25M projected by 2023.
“Our partnership with Red Robin has allowed us to open our distribution line across the entire country,” said Tom Krouse, president and chief executive of Donatos Pizza. “What better way to expand than with a like-minded, family-friendly partner that can help bring Donatos to the rest of the pie-loving nation beyond the Midwest?”
