Curry Up Now expands to UCSD, Stanford University’s Tressider

Two university locations show concept flexibility in operating out of non-traditional locations

Curry Up Now continues to expand its franchise venture as it signs two new leases at University of California San Diego (UCSD) and Stanford University’s Tressider. The Indian fast casual’s openings at these campuses represent its first school locations, and will add to the 14 brick-and-mortar locations, three food trucks and digital kitchen operations the restaurant chain operates across the United States.

Curry Up Now at UCSD Price Center

The UCSD Price Center outlet will operate out of a 1,400-square-foot kitchen space with walk-up ordering and general seating starting this November. The movement to have a Curry Up Now location at UCSD came from the students themselves, as they identified the Indian chain as a desirable brand and concept to be part of their dining options. Curry Up Now succeeded in the subsequent formal nomination and voting process.

“Curry Up Now is ready for its campus debut,” said said Akash Kapoor, founder, chief executive and chief troublemaker for Curry Up Now. “We are honored to be a part of such vibrant communities and can’t wait to wow the student body. I know that our flavor-packed, playful menu items at an affordable price point will become a favorite among the students at UCSD and Stanford University.”

Burritos, bowls and tacos abound on the Curry Up Now menu, and also Poutine, which it calls Sexy Fries, as well as Naughty Naan. The chain also offers a robust selection of Indian street food snacks and traditional dishes, including Thali Platters, Kathi Rolls and family style entrees.

Kapoor noted that the new non-traditional units reflect a flexibility in the format and buildout of the concept.
