Nathan’s Famous, Wayback Burgers stir up National Cheeseburger Day excitement

Nathan’s launches Bacon Cheddar Cheesy Burger, while Wayback offers BOGO on Classic Burgers

Nathan’s Famous introduced a new Bacon Cheddar Cheesy Burger for a limited-time starting September 18, which is being celebrated as National Cheeseburger Day. Wayback Burgers also launched a special BOGO promotion on its Classic Burgers that day, and a new Cheeseburger Hall of Fame. It pays homage to moments in pop culture defined by “performance, body of work, depth of career, cultural relevance, uniqueness and of course, overall cheesiness,” announced Wayback.

Available at Nathan’s Famous and through its virtual-kitchen partners, the limited-time Bacon Cheddar Cheesy Burger features Angus beef, Applewood smoked bacon, and Nathan’s hot, real cheddar cheese sauce.

“We continue to expand our menu based on our customers’ feedback and preferences, and this burger is no exception,” states James Walker, senior vice president, Restaurants. “This LTO will be one of the largest in the brand’s history as the Bacon Cheddar Cheesy Burger will not only be available through our franchisees but also through our ghost kitchen partners to expand it throughout the US and abroad. We can’t wait for our customers to try it!”

Expanding its marketing platform, Nathan’s Famous partnered with Punchh, an email distribution and digital engagement platform, to distribute Nathan’s Famous coupons to coupon club members, as well as launch a delivery specific website at wedelivertheflavorofnewyork.com to streamline customer ordering. As part of promoting the club, Nathan’s Famous will send customers who join the club a coupon for the Bacon Cheddar Cheesy Burger.

At Wayback Burgers, the formal induction period starts and ends on National Cheeseburger Day. Here are the inaugural inductees for 2021:

  • Jimmy Buffet; Cheeseburger in Paradise

“As the saying goes, nothing beats a classic. Therefore, we’re excited to celebrate this National Cheeseburger Day with not only BOGO Classic Burgers, but with the inauguration of our very first ‘Cheeseburger Hall of Fame’ class,” said Patrick Conlin, Wayback Burgers, president. “Just like our Classic Burger, our 2021 inductees positively advocate the deliciousness and notoriety of America’s iconic meal, the cheeseburger. We feel our inaugural inductees embody memorable moments in pop culture where we, as a society, have also idolized the cheeseburger. We look forward to launching this yearly tradition and can’t wait to see where the class of 2022 will lead us.”
