Aloha Poke Co opens in Houston, plans market expansion, entry into Dallas

First of 11 Houston-area stores marks foray into Texas as execs eye DFW, Austin

Fast-casual Aloha Poke Co opened its first Houston-area store as part of development agreements for 11 units in the market. Franchise partners Amanda and Corey Tabb of Cypress are investing in businesses as part of generational wealth creation for their young daughters, and Aloha Poke’s program provides for a high return on investment, noted the couple.

The new Aloha Poke restaurant debuted in the Fairfield Town Center shopping plaza at 29040 Highway 290, Cypress, Texas.

The Houston expansion, which is now in the pipeline, will double Aloha Poke’s portfolio and is the first foray into attractive Texas markets, including Greater Dallas/Fort Worth and Metro-Austin. Franchise partner Baryalay Razi, as previously announced, will continue the Houston expansion under a multi-unit deal with Aloha Poke.

“We are thrilled to be the first Aloha Poke restaurant in the state we love, the state where we are raising our children,” said Amanda. “As first-time franchise owners, we decided on Aloha Poke for several reasons including the brand’s franchise development program, the projected return on investment, the ease of operations, low labor requirements, and most importantly, the sheer beauty and high-quality nutritional value of the brand’s dedicated menu.”

Executives are optimistic about the prospects of growing Aloha Poke’s franchise holdings, citing analyst projections that the poke foods market will grow by $1.2B by 2024. The fast-casual chain aims to tap a growing demand with consumers looking for healthy food that’s differentiated.

Aloha Poke’s leadership team also notes that the concept is re-imagined for convenience-oriented consumer patterns, in many ways propelled by the COVID-19 health crisis.

“Aloha Poke Co is excited and extremely proud to welcome Amanda and Corey into the Aloha Poke franchise family,” said Chris Birkinshaw, chief executive of Aloha Poke Co. “Houston is one of the fastest growing and culturally diverse markets in the nation and we are very excited to introduce the Aloha Poke brand with incredibly dedicated franchisees like the Tabb family.”
