WOWorks co-branded locations help Saladworks, Frutta Bowls grow

In-grocery, in-pharmacy stores create versatile opportunities for franchise partners

WOWorks announced new franchise agreements and co-branded locations as part of the recent growth of its franchised brands, including Saladworks, Frutta Bowls, Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh and The Simple Greek. Co-branded locations will represent much of the expansion that will be cemented through the end of the year.

Remodeling and retrofitting

Based on the restaurant company inking new deals for Nev. and San Juan Capistrano, Calif., new WOWorks co-branded locations will open by the end of the year. A Saladworks restaurant in Morgantown, W.Va. signed to add Frutta Bowls to its location next year through remodel. Meanwhile, in Norfolk, Va, Saladworks and Frutta Bowls will come to the market in 2022. In addition, WOWorks signed an agreement for Draper, Utah for three co-branded locations, one of which will open in 2022.

Furthermore, a Saladworks and Frutta Bowls co-branded restaurant will open in West Bloomfield, Mich., in December. This marks the first presence in the state for both brands.

In addition, Saladworks will add Frutta bowls to a store in Middletown, Del. In Hermitage, Penn., a Frutta Bowls location will be remodeled to add the Saladworks brand. This will be the first time the salad chain has grown with that type of implementation.

Saladworks and Frutta Bowls partnered with Combo Kitchens in April to make franchising more accessible to a wider group of franchisees. Restaurant operators can utilize their dark-kitchen space and partner with these fast-casual brands.

Non-traditional locations

“We are seeing an accelerated growth in co-branded WOWorks restaurants because our healthy-halo brands meet growing menu and flavor demands, and have the flexibility in size and operation to open alongside current restaurants and inside many non-traditional spaces,” said Eric Lavinder, chief development officer for WOWorks. “By sharing a front and back-end, co-branded restaurants can build-out more efficiently to open quicker, have lower operating costs, and cover more dayparts to attract more guests and generate sales.”

WOWorks has also been deploying non-traditional locations in grocery stores and at retailers. For instance, Saladworks and Frutta Bowls co-branded restaurants are opening in Philadelphia area inside grocers. And in Staten Island, N.Y., a ShopRite will add Frutta Bowls to Saladworks to form a co-branded restaurant.

Furthermore, an existing Philadelphia-based The Fresh Grocer has done well with a co-branded Saladworks and Frutta Bowls restaurant within.
