Food hall debut in Greenwich Village, Colorado marks first presence outside Utah
Tag Restaurant Group announced the opening of J. Dawgs, a hot dog concept hailing from Utah, at Grange Hall. The new spot at Grange Hall in Greenwich Village, Colo. marks the J. Dawgs brand’s first presence outside Utah.
J. Dawgs Grange Hall will offer the concept’s house-recipe beef and polish hot dogs. The chain offers fixins, including onions, sauerkraut, banana peppers, jalapeno, and pickles–all served on house-recipe buns. On the menu, too, is the owner’s special sauce with a sweet and tangy profile. In fact, the recipe was handed down from his grandmother, reveals owner Jayson Edwards.
“I was a broke college student back then, and had spent some time in Toronto,” said Edwards. “I fell in love with the street vendor culture they had there, and thought I could bring something like that to Salt Lake City and be successful. One 10×10 little shack, $700 and some great family recipes, and the rest is history!.”
Founded in 2004, the Utah-based hot dog hot spot operates four stores in Salt Lake City plus a nationwide shipping program. After the pandemic, Edwards was ready to expand the chain beyond its home state
Edwards added, “After visiting the space and meeting with the team, I realized that Grange Hall is the perfect way to test out a new market—it’s the right sized space, and the built-in support from the team has been great. Denver and Salt Lake City have a lot of similarities—including the altitude—and the community around Grange Hall seems like a good fit. Plus, who doesn’t like hot dogs!”
Grange Hall includes Bubu, The Crack Shack, Crazy Love Pizza, Eiskaffee, J. Dawgs, Little Dry Creek Brewery, Rado Burgers, and Uptown & Humboldt. In addition, Honey Fish by Mizu Izakaya will open soon.
