Wingstop restaurant of the future unveiled in Dallas, Texas

Lovers Lane Wingstop is digital-forward, sustainably-powered

The Wingstop restaurant of the future was unveiled, serving as a digital-ordering-focused prototype of the chicken-wing chain. The store will power the testing of different new equipment and layouts. Located on Lovers Lane in Dallas, Texas, it will also resemble a test kitchen, becoming an innovation hub for flavor exploration.

Spanning 1,300 square feet, the Wingstop restaurant of the future runs about 400 square feet less than one of the chain’s average spaces. With modular design, support center staff can test different configurations. In this way, it can also be a blueprint for restaurants coming down the pike.

The Lovers Lane store was built just a short drive from the company’s global Support Center in Addison, said Wingstop. In reality, this unit was erected for the carryout guest and delivery driver as the fast casual’s orders are nearly 100% off-premises. Enabling quick pickup, the store has a lobby area sans dining tables. In addition, the back of house also has been optimized to create efficiencies for kitchen staff.

With digital-focused ordering will enable 100% digital orders. As such, the storefront is cashless. Furthermore, QR codes will be prominently displayed in-restaurant for easy ordering..

“A glimpse into our Lovers Lane location is a glimpse into the future of Wingstop—focused on 100% digital transactions, seamless back of house operations, ongoing flavor innovation, and a business model centered around our fans, who love to dine off-premise with friends, while gaming, or just about anywhere you can think of,” said Marisa Carona, chief growth officer. “We’re excited to continue optimizing the size and layout of our restaurants as we drive toward our vision of becoming a Top 10 Global Restaurant Brand.”

Plus, Wingstop is maximizing its use of Energy Star equipment and grease extraction. And sustainability initiatives do not end with the store’s equipment. Staff will wear “stylish” uniform clothing made from recycled bottles.
