Expanded relationship with Miso Robotics sets stage for rollout over upcoming years
White Castle will install Flippy 2 in 100 standalone chain locations. Enhancing the back-of-house operation, the robot will take over an entire fry station. From that point on, the team in the kitchen can shift a focus on customers, White Castle said.
The expanded partnership with Miso Robotics started in 2020 with the original Flippy in Chicago. By November 2021, White Castle had deployed Flippy 2 in its restaurants.
“We could not be more grateful for the confidence White Castle has shown in us as we enter into the next phase of our partnership,” said Mike Bell, chief executive of Miso Robotics. “White Castle was the first large brand to embrace our technology and we are thrilled that our Flippy pilot made such a positive impact on their operations that they want to integrate 100 more. We can’t wait to continue on this journey with such an outstanding partner.”
The White Castle Flippy 2 rollout will start by region. The process will be scheduled over time, with monthly deployments. However, the burger-chain indicated it will take years.
Fueled by crowdfunding, Miso Robotics tallies 15,000 shareholders, raising $50M to date. Recently, its Series E round launched with a market valuation of $500M. The White Castle Flippy 2 rollout marks a milestone moment for the company.
