Peet’s Coffee launches new plant-based spring menu with Mediterranean Flatbread, Iced Vanilla Almond Latte

Peet’s 2022 spring menu emphasizes flexitarian-, vegan-friendly options with debut of seasonal, espresso beverages

Peet’s released a new, Iced Vanilla Almond Latte and Mediterranean Flatbread with Just Egg, part of a plant-based spring menu rotation. Partnering with Beyond Meat, Just Egg and Violife, the coffee chain launched its 2022 spring menu emphasizing plant-based ingredients. It also released a limited-time line of plant-based espresso drinks.

With this emphasis on plant-based foods, Peet’s said it will make it easier to access vegan- and flexitarian-friendly foods on. It also added a plant-based foods section on the app.

Vegan-friendly sandwiches

The newly-introduced Mediterranean Flatbread headlines the variety of plant-forward items. The crispy lavash comes topped with warm Just Egg and Violife 100-percent vegan smoked provolone cheese, wrapped alongside pesto, kale, tomatoes, and bell peppers.

Peet’s Everything Plant Based Sandwich, introduced in 2021, features a Beyond Breakfast Sausage patty, made with plant-based ingredients. With the texture and taste of a traditional pork sausage, the patty is made without GMOs, soy, gluten, or cholesterol. Plus, the Beyond Breakfast Sausage patty has less total fat, saturated fat, and sodium than the leading brand of pork breakfast sausage, according to the coffee chain.

Over the last 12 months, the number of plant-based meat, cheese and dairy products available to consumers in the marketplace has more than doubled.

Just Egg Folded is made entirely of plants. What’s more it contains as much protein as a conventional chicken egg; however, with zero cholesterol and less saturated fat, Peet’s announced. What’s more, its ingredients use 98 percent less water, 86 percent less land and produce 93 percent fewer carbon dioxide emissions than conventional animal sources.

Violife, a top-selling plant-based cheese, also arrives on the menu. The producers plant-based cheeses taste and melt, slice, and shred like cheese. Yet, they are free from dairy, preservatives, casein, lactose, gluten, nuts, and soy, noted Peet’s announcement.

“Peet’s Spring menu celebrates the freshness of the season and the growing availability of delicious plant-based ingredients,” said Lori Fulmer, CRC, senior manager, food R&D for Peet’s Coffee. “Over the last 12 months, the number of plant-based meat, cheese and dairy products available to consumers in the marketplace has more than doubled.”

Coffee selections, free item for Peetnik Rewards members

Peet’s Coffee Anniversary Blend features plum and red fruit notes with a hint of fine chocolate. Launching on March 8, International Women’s Day, the 2022 Anniversary Blend is produced by female coffee farmers in Colombia & Rwanda.Peet’s Coffee will donate $1 (up to $50,000) to the Women’s Center for Entrepreneurship in Colombia for every pound sold.

A very-limited-time blended coffee beverage also arrives from March 9 to March 22. The creamy, green Mint Matcha Frappé’s addition falls in line with St. Patrick’s Day. To opt for the plant-based version, guests can remove the whipped cream and opt for oat, almond or soy.

In addition, Peet’s loyalty guests will have a special treat from March 9 to 31. New Peetnik Rewards members can download the app and redeem a free plant-based item using code PLANTSRULE. Moreover, from March 9 to 15, existing Peetnik members can earn double points on plant-based food and beverage items.
