Fast casual will promote grand opening with free sandwich, salad, bowl offer
Mendocino Farms will open a new location in April at Two Allen Center in Houston, Texas. The upcoming opening on Smith Street will mark the chain’s fifth Houston restaurant.
Grand opening celebration
For the grand opening festivities, Mendocino Farms will “take over” Two Allen Center on April 26 and rename it Moo Allen Center. The latter refers to the fast-casual chain’s blue cow mascot with its “Eat Happy” spirit.
During the celebration, customers can earn a free entree after creating a My Mendo account and selecting Houston-Two Allen Center as their favorite location. For the offer, registrants will need to complete account creation before opening day. It includes a free sandwich, salad or bowl, redeemable with any menu purchase during the first two weeks after the opening.
“We are always looking to better serve our existing communities, and our Two Allen Center location was built with professionals in mind as more return to downtown,” said Kevin Miles, chief executive of Mendocino Farms. “With our diverse menu satisfying any culinary craving, we look forward to welcoming Two Allen Center tenants to our new restaurant, whether they are grabbing a bite with coworkers, seeking a quick pick up or delivery option, or feeding a crowd with our catering spreads.”
Mendocino Farms will donate 50% of opening day sales to Bike MS and The National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The move will support Houstonians competing in the upcoming Texas MS 150 race to find a cure for multiple sclerosis.
Chef-driven menu
The Two Allen Center Mendocino Farms will offer a chef-driven menu of hearty sandwiches, salads and grain bowls. Global flavors inspire the Thai Mango Salad, a fan favorite. The salad features shaved, roasted chicken breast, ramen noodles, Napa cabbage and kale slaw, sliced mango, and honey roasted almonds. It also comes layered with pickled daikon and carrots, scallions, Thai basil, mint, cilantro, and lime. Plus, the Thai Salad is served with fried shallots and Thai almond dressing.
Houstonians may also gravitate to another chain top seller, the Not So Fried Chicken Sandwich. Restaurants prepare it with shaved, roasted chicken breast, Mendo’s signature krispies, herb aioli, mustard pickle slaw, tomatoes, and pickled red onions. The Not so Fried Chicken Sandwich comes on toasted ciabatta with a side of tangy mustard barbeque sauce or mustard pickle remoulade.
The store will open for dine-in and carryout Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. In addition, third-party partners UberEats, DoorDash and Postmates will fulfill delivery orders. According to an announcement, the Two Allen Center Mendocino Farms will also provide catering.
