Papa Johns names Joe Sieve chief restaurant officer

Newly-appointed CRO will oversee corporate and franchise restaurant operations

Papa Johns named Joe Sieve chief restaurant officer. Sieve will report to Max Wetzel, EVP, chief commercial officer, effective May 2, when his appointment becomes effective. Sieve will oversee the Papa Johns corporate and franchise restaurant operations.

As chief restaurant officer (CRO), he will lead the Papa Johns franchise operations support team, company-owned restaurants, and the operations excellence team. Plus, he and his staff will take on strategic imperatives, like driving continuous operations improvements. This will be accomplished through innovation and delivering growth in customer satisfaction across both corporate and franchise restaurants, announced Papa Johns.

The newly-appointed CRO of Papa Johns will benefit from broad-based experience in strategy and development gained at large restaurant companies, including Domino’s and Inspire Brands.

Wetzel said, “We are thrilled to welcome Joe to Papa Johns. His leadership experience, extensive operational knowledge and successful track record working with franchisees and as a franchisee himself are all substantial assets for our team and brand. I’m particularly excited about Joe’s deep background in the pizza industry, which will help accelerate the progress we’re already making to create a winning culture in our restaurants, deliver fantastic customer service and run the most efficient operations possible.”

Most recently, Sieve worked for Inspire Brands for six years. Serving as president of franchise development, he worked with the team that created and grew the multi-brand restaurant company. Before Inspire Brands, he developed and executed Domino’s Pizza’s fortressing strategy, among several contributions, as director of strategic market growth.

Early in his career and just out of college, he developed 58 Domino’s restaurants as a franchisee.

“I can’t think of a better time to join this impressive team and help build on all the great work Papa Johns is doing today,” said Sieve. “The work and investments in technology and operations have created a unique platform for long-term growth, and I look forward to contributing my experience, as we strive to build the best pizza company in the world.”
