New sandwiches’ flavor profile elevated by Maker’s Mark, Thailand licensing deal means 15 shack openings in Thailand with first unit next year
Shake Shack released a new Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Burger and Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Chicken sandwich. The just-released items feature sweet and savory bourbon bacon jam, prepared with Maker’s Mark. Also, in a new, 15-unit Thailand development deal, Shake Shack will head to Bangkok.
New Bourbon Bacon sandwiches
The fast-casual, better-burger chain plans to release the Shake Shack Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Burger and Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Chicken sandwich May 6 for in-store ordering. However, customers can order early with special access to these newly-introduced items via the Shack App starting today, May 3.
The Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Burger includes a white-cheddar cheeseburger, made with 100% Angus beef, topped with bourbon bacon jam that is prepared with Maker’s Mark Bourbon. The cheeseburger comes with crispy shallots and ShackSauce, on a toasted potato bun
Shake Shack’s Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Chicken Sandwich offers crispy, whole white-meat chicken breast topped with white-cheddar cheese. Restaurants finish off the sandwich with bourbon bacon jam, made with Maker’s Mark Bourbon, over pickles, served on a toasted potato bun.
Shake Shack’s bourbon bacon jam represents a highlight of these introductions. It marries the Maker’s Mark Kentucky bourbon with bacon. A whiskey that is aged to taste and has notes of vanilla, caramel and oak, combines well with bacon that is smoked for six hours using real hardwood applewood, noted the fast casual. The sweet, savory, woodsy, and smoky sauce packs a bit of heat and elevates the new offerings.
The Shake Shack Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Burger starts at $8.49, and the Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Chicken sandwich goes for $8.09 and up.
Shake Shack Thailand licensing deal
On the development front, Shake Shack and Maxim’s Caterers, a licensee for Asia, expanded their agreement and are opening 15 Shacks in Thailand by 2032. The first new location will arrive in Bangkok in 2023.
“Shake Shack was born in New York, and Bangkok is another fantastic city with vibrant energy, friendly people and rich culinary traditions, and we can’t wait to serve Thailand their first ShackBurgers soon,” says Michael Kark, chief global licensing officer of Shake Shack. “Our partner, Maxim’s, has set the bar high and we are thrilled to continue our partnership with them and bring our mutual commitment to quality ingredients and hospitality to our Thai guests.”
Maxim’s operates 24 Shake Shacks in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Nanjing and Guangzhou, as well as Hong Kong and Macau. The well-known Asian foodservice operator has spent over six decades operating in the food, beverage and retail sectors.
