Subway debuts Sweet Onion Steak Teriyaki

Sandwich QSR chain also launches gift card promotion

Subway introduced Sweet Onion Steak Teriyaki, a new sub, as part of its Eat Fresh Refresh evolution. The Milford, Conn.-based QSR announced the limited-time offering as a sequel to its Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki.

“The new Sweet Onion Steak Teriyaki is the long-awaited sequel our fans have been waiting for, giving them a chance to try a fresh take on one of our most craved flavors,” said Chef Paul Fabre, senior vice president of culinary and innovation at Subway. “This cult-classic refresh takes the Sweet Onion flavor our guests love to the next level by pairing it with juicy, succulent, steak on this mouthwatering sandwich.”

The Subway Sweet Onion Steak Teriyaki offers up sweet onion and savory teriyaki, with “notes of soy, sesame, garlic and black pepper,” said the company in a statement. The steak comes piled high on Artisanal Italian bread, topped with green peppers, red onions, and American cheese, then finished with a generous serving of Sweet Onion Teriyaki sauce.

And as the summer season approaches, Subway plans on introducing additional featured sandwiches during the season.

What’s more, the sandwich chain launched a special promotion on its gift cards. For every $25 in gift cards purchased online or in-restaurant, Subway will reward guests with a bonus card redeemable for a free six-inch Subway sandwich. These bonus cards are valid for redemption online or in-store between July 1, 2022 through August 31, 2022.
