Centre Partners acquires Captain D’s Seafood for second time

Seafood chain franchises, operates 500 units with room to grow

Centre Partners acquired QSR chain Captain D’s Seafood for a second time. The first acquisition took place in 2013, with the middle-market private equity firm exiting the business in 2017. Terms of the Captain D’s transaction were not disclosed.

The seafood themed restaurant chain operates out of Nashville and was founded in 1969. In their previous relationship, Phil Greifeld served as Captain D’s chief executive, as he does now. Currently investors, the existing senior management team will continue to lead the brand.

Captain D’s operates and franchises 500 coastal-themed restaurants in the United States. To date, it has invested over $2.5 billion of equity capital in more than 80 transactions.
