The chicken QSR chain also began featuring a peach cobbler
Church’s Chicken brought back its Original Smokehouse Chicken. The Texas-style barbecue preparation draws inspiration from Texas’ BBQ Trail. After returning from a trip there, corporate chef Kevin Houston created the recipe.
The Church’s Original Smokehouse Chicken is marinated in a smoky dressing. Then restaurants fry the chicken and serve it with a smoky glaze.
The combo meal with Original Smokehouse Chicken, creamy mashed potatoes, a Honey-Butter Biscuit, and drink also returned. The meal platter pricing starts at $6. In addition, Church’s began featuring a peach cobbler built on a Honey-Butter Biscuit.
“I was so excited to dive back into our delicious Original Smokehouse Chicken recipe and bring it back to our restaurants just in time for summer,” said Houston. “Exploring other flavor variations—such as last year’s Bourbon Black Pepper—and showcasing our innovation always pleases our guests, but I know fans will be thrilled to hear the Original Smokehouse Chicken is back on the menu once again.”
The Smokehouse Chicken rolled out starting Thursday, May 26 systemwide at Church’s Chicken restaurants.
