Mici Italian expands with new openings in Gilbert, Arizona, Frisco, Texas

Phoenix-area opening comes on heels of 30-unit deal for appealing market

Mici Italian, a family-owned restaurant, will open its first franchise location in Arizona in June. The fast-growing chain sees the fruits of its development pipeline and its franchising program, which began in 2019. The 5498 South Power Road location will face the Majestic 8 Movie Theater.

Spanning 1700 square feet, the restaurant seats 40 and has dedicated pickup and delivery stations. Mici Gilbert marks the 9th unit in the chain and will also offer catering. Mici had previously announced a 30-unit deal in the Phoenix area. Gilbert is a southeast suburb of Phoenix.

The menu includes the chain’s all-natural pizzas, in a variety of combinations. Fan favorites include The DiGirolomo (named for the family’s great grandfather), topped with olive oil, nitrate-free pepperoni, pepperoncini, gorgonzola, and mozzarella; and The Vela (named for Miceli nieces Sofia and Francesca), featuring olive oil, family-recipe sausage, ricotta, and mozzarella. The fast-casual restaurant offers pies in 10” and 16” sizes, with make-your-own and gluten-free crust options available.

With regard to pastas, on the menu are Spaghetti and Meatball, featuring Miceli matriarch Rosalie’s Marinara and family-recipe meatballs; Tortellini alla Miceli, with Parmigiano-Reggiano cream sauce, Prosciutto di Parma, and green peas; and also other family favorites, like Creamy Pesto and hearty Cortonese, with a Tuscan meat sauce over penne pasta.

What’s more, salads and pastries round out the Mici Gilbert menu.

Mici also announced new Texas locations. The first opening will come to Frisco in July. The 8244 FM 423 restaurant came to be through a franchising partnership with Carlos Smith. He plans to develop about 12 locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

According to Mici, Smith is excited about being the brand’s first Texas franchisee and getting the new units open.
