Flippy 2 goes global in robotics pilot with Americana’s Wimpy

Miso Robotics enters agreement with Americana to pilot its solutions for international stage

Through a partnership with Americana, Miso Robotics has expanded its robotics solutions to restaurants outside the United States. Americana‚Äôs popular Wimpy brand will test Flippy 2 at its location in The Dubai Mall. Beyond Wimpy, Americana serves as a master franchisee of KFC, Pizza Hut, Hardee’s, Krispy Kreme, and TGI Friday’s to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

In the MENA region, Wimpy offers a selection of smashed burgers and a wide range of beverages. The collaboration will test Flippy 2 at additional locations across Americana restaurants. Particularly in the quick-service environment, Flippy 2 is helpful and effective as it independently works an entire fry station and optimizes operations.

Currently, Wimpy has 17 stores in the MENA region with 50 more in the works. Americana sees an opportunity to integrate robotics in the kitchen to maximize speed of service and guarantee consistent quality. It will reap the rewards in its network of restaurants that operate in 12 countries.

According to Miso Robotics, Flippy 2 will provide Wimpy’s kitchen with a customizable robotic fry station with several benefits. First, it will decrease order-to-delivery times. Second, food consistency will increase. Third, using Flippy 2 will create a better working environment for human team members.

“Americana Restaurants’ partnership with Miso Robotics marks a significant milestone for the company as we continue to strive to address shifting customer behaviors and preferences through state-of-the-art, innovative solutions,” said Melvin Michael, brand director of Wimpy. “As the first QSR operator in the MENA region to introduce the use of robotics in its kitchens, Americana Restaurants continues to show its commitment to delivering unique dining experiences to customers at their favorite iconic brands.”

With the pilot, Americana Restaurants will put Flippy 2 in the spotlight. With the restaurant in the Wimpy location in the Dubai Mall’s food court, 100 million visitors pass through there every year.

“In the past year, we’ve announced partnerships with some of the largest brands in the US, and that momentum has led to us being pulled internationally to introduce our technology on a global scale,” said Mike Bell, chief executive of Miso Robotics. “Americana Restaurants’ push to scale robotics in their operations is a testament to their superb operating capability in the MENA region. This is a true partnership that we see blossoming for many years to come and we wanted to make sure the market was right for future deployment at additional locations. The time is now to take Flippy global, and we have a great partner to do it with.”
