Smokey Bones opens digital drive-thru at Bowling Green, Kentucky restaurant

Drive-thru will also accept orders from virtual brands, The Wing Experience, Burger Experience

Smokey Bones will add a digital drive-thru lane to its restaurants, starting with Bowling Green, Ky. The drive-thru opening there today, June 22, begins a new chapter for the casual-dining chain, as it seeks to emulate the convenience of QSR drive-thrus by way of technology.

The Plantation, Fla.-based chain announced the drive-thru comes complete with digital ordering boards, digital order confirmation, high-quality audio, and a drive-up window for express menu pick-up. The Bowling Green Smokey Bones drive-thru will also feature parking spots for customers ordering menu items that take longer.

Despite the technology, customers who want to order directly from the drive-thru window, can do so.

“Not only does a drive thru lane address the way people are dining today with more to go orders, but it makes it faster, easier, and more convenient for guests to enjoy Smokey Bones ‘anytime anywhere’—our vision for Smokey Bones’ off-premise dining,” said James O’Reilly, chief executive of Smokey Bones. “We believe drive-thru is a next generation initiative for casual dining and has the potential to redefine what ‘fast casual’ really means.”

The Bowling Green Smokey Bones drive-thru will also bring to life the restaurant chain’s virtual brands, The Wing Experience and Burger Experience. Customers can order selections from these virtual eateries in the drive-thru, and they will be available for pick-up at the same window.
