Fat Brands to debut Marble Slab Creamery in Cairo

New deal expands brand to Egypt over next ten years

Marble Slab Creamery is headed to Cairo thanks to a new development agreement with Menafex LLC. The franchise agreement brokered by its parent, Fat Brands, calls for 10 stores to open in Egypt over the next decade. The first store coming out of this deal will open in late 2023 in Cairo, according to current planning.

For over 40 years, Marble Slab Creamery has been serving its ice cream using its frozen slab technique. The QSR ice-cream shop chain offers unlimited mix-ins, homemade, small-batch ice cream and shakes in a variety of flavors, hand-rolled waffle cones, and ice cream cakes.

“Since opening our first location globally in Canada in 2003, Marble Slab Creamery has continued to resonate with consumers around the world in nine countries,” said Taylor Wiederhorn, chief development Officer of Fat Brands. “This latest expansion push in Egypt is a testament to the versatility of the brand. Just like our ice cream, there are limitless opportunities for growth, and we are pleased to partner with Menafex to build out our brand in the country, starting with the capital city, Cairo.”

In June, Fat Brands inked a deal to expand its FatBurger and Buffalo’s Express chains in Puerto Rico with a total of 10 new locations. Five of those Puerto Rico co-branded franchised locations will open in partnership with Franchisee Conceptos Restaurants LLC over the next five years.

Fat Brands operates and franchises a variety of restaurant brands, including Round Table Pizza, Fatburger, Marble Slab Creamery, Johnny Rockets, Fazoli’s, Twin Peaks, Great American Cookies, Hot Dog on a Stick, Buffalo’s Cafe & Express, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Pretzelmaker, Elevation Burger, Native Grill & Wings, Yalla Mediterranean, and Ponderosa and Bonanza Steakhouses globally.

During the first quarter of 2022, Fat Brands reported total revenue of $97.4M. Comparable store sales grew 17.8%. Its continued expansion strategy paid dividends as systemwide sales grew 341%.
