At select restaurants in Dayton, QSR adds Beyond Carne Asada Steak to menu
Taco Bell released a new Beyond Carne Asada Steak, partnering with Beyond Meat. The plant-based protein will debut exclusively at select restaurants in Dayton, Ohio.
The limited-time introduction, starting October 13, draws on the work of Taco Bell’s Test Kitchen and Beyond Meat’s innovation and culinary group. Prepared with simple plant-based ingredients and Taco Bell’s signature spices, the protein should be well-received by customers in Dayton. In addition, Taco Bell Beyond Carne Asada Steak comes with the certified vegan seal by the American Vegetarian Association (AVA).
“At Taco Bell, we’ve long believed that anyone should be able to choose plant-based menu items without compromising the flavors they crave,” said Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s Global chief food innovation officer. “That’s why we at Taco Bell are thrilled to reveal the result of our long-standing partnership with Beyond Meat, which is previously unseen in the QSR industry. This plant-based carne asada steak is just the latest move in our history of crafting some of the most unique, craveworthy offerings for all fans.”

In addition to being made with plant-based ingredients, the new protein has no GMOs or added hormones.
The Mexican-style QSR chain noted that in 2015, it was the first quick service restaurant to be certified by the AVA. Also, in 2021, the franchise’s vegetarian options represented over 12% of sales. Moreover, in August 2022, the brand tested a proprietary plant-based protein by way of its Crispy Melt Taco.
Dariush Ajami, chief innovation officer at Beyond Meat, added, “We know that consumers are looking for diverse protein options that are better for the planet without compromising on taste, so we’re incredibly excited to launch our brand-new, innovative Beyond Carne Asada Steak.”
