Salata Salad Kitchen launches Chicken Tortilla Soup

Topped’ soup likely to help chain build incremental average check

Salata rolled out a Chicken Tortilla Soup as a permanent addition to its menu. The fast-casual salad chain, with 90 stores systemwide, considers the soup as a complement to any of its made-to-order salads or wraps.

The Chicken Tortilla Soup comes packed with hearty grilled chicken and vegetables. Restaurants garnish the soup with crunchy tortilla strips and cheese. This is the first time the Houston-based fast casual will offer a “topped” soup, which sets it apart, using ingredients normally reserved for Salata’s salads and wraps.

“As we head into the colder months, there’s no better way to warm up than with a comforting bowl of soup,” says Michelle Bythewood, president of Salata. “We’re excited to up the ante on our soup offering by allowing our guests to top their soup with ingredients to enhance the flavor and texture of each bite.”

Building incremental check, the salad chain also invites customers to add a soup and cookie, or one of Salata’s organic teas and lemonades to any meal.


These are salad and wraps, Salata indicated, that go well with the new Chicken Tortilla Soup:

  • Jalapeño Avocado Salad combines Salata Mix, tomatoes, jicama, black beans, corn, cilantro, feta cheese, fresh jalapeños, and Jalapeño avocado dressing.
  • Raise the Steak Wrap features Certified Angus Beef steak, Salata Mix, tomato, corn, black beans, mixed cheese, red onion, cilantro, and chipotle ranch.
  • Mediterranean Veggie Wrap includes Salata Mix, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, chickpeas, feta, falafel, herb vinaigrette in a cool cucumber tortilla.

In addition, Salata also added a Pumpkin Puff Cookie, featuring macadamia nuts, white chocolate chunks, and a hint of Cinnamon.
