Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza fires up franchising with first deal

Brand franchisor plans focus on co-branded stores with BurgerFi, including first location in Kissimmee, Fla. with NDM

The franchisor of Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza & Wings began franchising the pizza chain, brokering a deal with NDM Hospitality Services, LLC. In addition to being a BurgerFi franchising partner, NDM Hospitality has its foothold in travel lodging and resort dining. The three-unit development agreement is the first Anthony’s deal for BurgerFi International, which acquired the pizza brand in 2021.

BurgerFi International also owns its namesake brand, BurgerFi. With Anthony’s franchising program launched in earnest, NDM Hospitality becomes the first franchisee of the brand. Next spring, the first franchised unit will open in Kissimmee, Fla., opening inside an existing BurgerFi restaurant.

“This groundbreaking deal celebrates the first franchise for Anthony’s, as well as the first co-branded location for BurgerFi and Anthony’s,” said Ophir Sternberg, executive chairman of BurgerFi International. “As one of BurgerFi’s original franchisees and a multi-unit operator, NDM Hospitality brings a strong track record of innovation and operational expertise and is the right partner to spearhead this new strategic growth with us.”

As a key BurgerFi franchise partner, NDM Hospitality has brought innovation to many of the chain’s internal processes, which have been adopted outside its franchise group. BurgerFi has also expanded its development track, including non-traditional venues, ghost kitchens, airports, and currently, co-branded locations with Anthony’s.

New locations have evolved their builds into a cost-effective model, with a greater focus on off-premises business.

BurgerFi International executives anticipate attracting a wider breadth of franchisees due to the evolving development model of BurgerFi and Anthony’s. In fact, the company reports that the co-branded strategy has attracted interest from several large multi-unit franchise groups.

Ronald Biskin, chief development officer of BurgerFi International, noted, “Anthony’s has reached a pivotal milestone. As we roll out our franchise program for Anthony’s, it only seems right to connect with NDM Hospitality to start this new era of franchising for the concept. This dual-branded approach highlights our flexible footprint and will leverage operations, facilities and real estate with the potential application in multiple BurgerFi locations.”
