Ilinois location is first such drive-thru for healthy-oriented fast casual
Sweetgreen opened its order-ahead drive-thru lane, called “sweetlane,” in Schaumburg, Ill. The Schaumburg sweetlane is the first such drive-thru for the company. Customers can order ahead on the app or online, and then proceed to pick up the order at the sweetlane.
The healthy-oriented fast casual continues to expand in the Midwest region. As it further penetrates the market, it is looking to provide customers with contemporary convenience, it said. Per the chain, “52% of existing suburban customers find it challenging to locate fresh, quality food to order on-the-go.”
“Innovation is in the sweetgreen DNA, and meeting customers where they are is the key to our brand mission; connecting people to real food,” said Jonathan Neman, chief executive and co-founder of Sweetgreen. “We hope this new experience provides ease and accessibility for the community craving deliciously fresh and healthy plant-forward food.”
The new store, built as a freestanding building, features the chain’s modern design. Unique elements flow on all sides, with a continuous green dip around the building. In addition, a large-scale mural by local Chicago artist Cody Hudson and architectural awning stand out prominently.
To pick up in the sweetlane, customers order through the app or online and select sweetlane as their desired retrieval method under “Select
a Pickup Location.” A built-in observation window allows guests waiting in vehicles to view food being prepared. When their order is ready, these guests can drive through the sweetlane to pick up their meal or menu item. Customers can also pick up inside the store (when selecting that location beforehand), or alternately, dine in.
The Schaumburg restaurant, which debuted November 15, operates from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
