Bojangles Hard Sweet Tea rolls out in Carolinas

Collab with Appalachian Mountain Brewery creates adult beverage to be sold at retailers, including Harris Teeter, Sheetz, Circle K, Walmart

Bojangles partnered with Appalachian Mountain Brewery (AMB) to develop Bojangles Hard Sweet Tea. The adult version of its popular Southern-inspired Sweet Tea is “2023’s newest and best drink,” according to the companies.

The chicken QSR chain has grown to about 800 restaurants in 15 states. Bojangles is most-recognized for its menu of bold, fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits and sides. The company got its start in Charlotte, N.C. in 1977.

Founded in 2013, AMB opened its taproom in Boone, N.C., with award-wining beers and ciders. For example, Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal was awarded to Boone Creek Blonde Ale, Gold Medal to its Down South Lager and Silver Medal to Hop Rain Drop IPA.

Both Bojangles and AMB continue to be based in North Carolina.

With an established customer base, Bojangles hopes to leverage new opportunities with this new food licensing deal.

“This collaboration is something sweet,” said Jackie Woodward, chief brand and marketing officer for Bojangles. “Partnering with AMB to craft our Legendary Iced Tea into a hard tea for fans of legal drinking age was a natural fit, and the team poured passion into the entire process. We can’t wait for fans to try it!”

Participating retailers will sell Bojangles Hard Sweet Tea at retailers. The beverage will not be available at any Bojangles restaurants. The hard tea will land on shelves in March in the form of 12-pack, 12-ounce cans and individual 16-ounce cans.

Customers can find Bojangles Hard Sweet Tea at independent retailers and chains, including Circle K, QT, Sheetz, Spinx, Harris Teeter, ingles, Lowes, Walmart, Food Lion and other retailers in North and South Carolina.

“AMB couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with such an iconic Carolina company,” said Nathan Kelischek, AMB founder and brewmaster. “Bojangles sweet tea is a staple across the South and has earned its ‘legendary’ title. AMB has always been dedicated to making the highest quality craft beer and cider, and the same can be said for this authentic Bojangles Hard Sweet Tea. We are excited to continue to share our craft in innovative, new ways.”
