Chicken QSR chain focuses on national franchise expansion
Starbird Chicken launched an enhanced loyalty program as it celebrated its fourth consecutive year of more than 25% comparable sales growth. The chicken QSR’s Starbird Loyalty 2.0 program is expected to increase guest touchpoints and drive digital ordering, the chain said. In addition, Starbird opened its first streetside restaurant in Southern California at Hermosa Beach.
The Starbird Loyalty 2.0 will accelerate the pace at which customers earn points. Guests will also benefit from the ability to customize their reward selections. Investing in digital innovation has paid off. A total of 53,470 new users came into the loyalty fold in 2022, representing a 15% increase in members.
Furthermore, Starbird implemented an omni-channel environment to create off-premise sales that account for 70% of its revenue. Through the creation of virtual brands, the chain has also moved the needle. Starbird Salads, Starbird Wings, Starbird Bowls, and Gardenbird made up 11% of total 2022 sales.
Based on its recent success, Starbird launched its franchise program in Q3 2022. The franchise’s management team is bullish on the years ahead as the chain’s AUV has reached $3.6M. Starbird has targeted Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Illinois, and Florida for multi-unit franchise development.
