New restaurant in Nashville marks third location in city, 38th in the United States
In March, Velvet Taco will open a new restaurant on Gallatin Avenue in East Nashville, Tenn. The unit brings the taco-shop chain’s hip vibe and eclectic menu to Nashville—its third location in the city. The new location follows openings in the Assembly Food Hall on Fifth & Broadway and in Midtown Nashville.
The East Nashville Velvet Taco boasts an interior adorned in neon pinks, greens and yellows. The store is also decorated with images of guitars and cowboy boots.
Velvet Taco serves over twenty different taco varieties inspired by global food. In addition, through the Weekly Taco Feature (WTF), the fast-casual taco concept creates a new taco each week. Trending ingredients on the menu have included basil leaves, grilled salmon, kobe beef, fried paneer, and crispy pepper jack corn grits.
Meagan Ramel, Velvet Taco’s recently-hired general manager, will take the helm of the East Nashville store. She is among 10 female general managers, across the brand; these 10 account for one-third of total GMs across the company. Aimee Cecil, who was promoted to director of operations from GM last year, adds East Nashville to her region (territory).
In support of the just-celebrated International Women’s Day, Velvet Taco announced some staffing statistics of which executives are proud. A total of 40% of the support staff comprise female workers, as well as 40% of the five directors of operations. Moreover, females make up 40% of Velvet Taco’s managing partners, and 35% of their 115 managers are female.
“Our team here in East Nashville is so excited to welcome everyone in the community into the newest Velvet Taco,” said Ramel. “Opening a third restaurant in Nashville means a lot to us, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our guests and community. We know that East Nashville has been waiting for us, and we’re so happy to bring our tacos here!”
The East Nashville Velvet Taco opening marks the 38th unit of the growing brand. Last year saw the opening of restaurants in Houston, Dallas, Nashville, Tulsa, and Charlotte.
